I Drive I-25 participant James S on LNX
James S. is an I-Drive I-25 participant. In late 2016, James tried the LNX thanks to our I Drive I-25 program. Smart Commute followed up with James, who kindly shared his experience.
I enjoy my morning ride especially; I can grade papers if I want or relax with an audio book. I have also made new friends.
Smart Commute: Tell us about your commute before I Drive I-25.
James S: It was rough. I live in Berthoud and work Downtown. The early morning scrum can be scary and/or tedious but always unpredictable.
SC: What is your new commute like?
JS: Much better, though my ride depends on my schedule @ two different jobs. I go from Longmont 8th & Coffman PnR to Union Station, then take the Mall/Metro ride to work. My other job I have to drive.
SC: What was the biggest barrier to starting this new commute?
JS: My own ignorance. I thought having my car at all times gave me greater freedom.
SC: What are the advantages of your new commute?
JS: HUGE drop in stress. I enjoy my morning ride especially; I can grade papers if I want or relax with an audio book. I have also made new friends. Not being trapped in nightmare gridlock (both ways) is rewarding. My overall commute time has also dropped. I grew up here; I am so thankful Denver FINALLY figured it out! 🙂
SC: What are the disadvantages of your new commute?
JS: Can’t go everywhere I need to. That has more to do with my schedule than RTDs.
SC: Would you recommend this commute to others? Why/Why Not?
JS: How not? It is easy, always on time, less stress and the right thing to do.
SC: How long is your commute, in miles?
JS: My drive from home to Longmont 8th & Coffman PnR is 10 miles, PnR to Union Station is 45 miles. I always take the LNX.
SC: If you had to write a Haiku about your commute, what would you write?
JS: (This is my first Haiku … and you should know that Steve is my driver)
Steve brings morning Zen
Think, listen, work, chill, be grateful
My car is thankful
